Yes. Completely free. No trial, no freemium, no "enter your credit card for the full version." Just open it and use it.
What's the catch?
There is no catch. We built this because we needed it ourselves and figured others might too. No ads, no tracking, no data collection.
What browser does it work in?
VoicePrompt works best in Google Chrome (desktop). The voice recognition feature uses Chrome's built-in Speech Recognition API. Keyboard controls work in any modern browser.
Does it work offline?
You can download the offline version and open it without internet. The teleprompter display and keyboard controls work fully offline. Voice tracking requires an internet connection because Chrome sends audio to Google's servers for recognition.
How do I use it with a second screen or external prompter?
Click "Pop Out Window" to open the teleprompter in a separate window. Drag that window to your second screen or external display. Enable Mirror mode if your prompter uses a beam-splitter. The display is clean black with no UI chrome.
Can I use it for long recordings (20-30+ minutes)?
Yes. There's no time limit. The voice recognition auto-restarts if Chrome's speech API times out, so it works seamlessly for long sessions.
What if my accent isn't recognized well?
The matching algorithm is fuzzy — it doesn't need perfect recognition. It matches partial words and allows skipped words. You also always have keyboard arrow keys as a backup to nudge the position.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Just open the app and start using it. No account, no login, no email required. Nothing.
