The teleprompter that
follows your voice

Paste your script, hit start, and speak naturally. VoicePrompt listens to your voice and scrolls word by word in real time. Control it from your phone. No foot pedals. No subscriptions. Just you.

How it works

Three steps. No setup. No downloads required. Chrome recommended.

1

Paste your script

Drop your script into VoicePrompt. Works with any text — video scripts, speeches, talking points, podcast outlines.

2

Hit start

Pop out the teleprompter window and move it to your second screen. Scan the QR code to get a remote control on your phone.

3

Speak naturally

VoicePrompt listens and follows along word by word. Pause, speed up, go off-script — it stays with you.

I was about to buy a $100 teleprompter app, but decided to vibe-code one in 2 prompts. Asked Claude to make a website for it as well.

(For context: I'm a historian, never coded a line in my whole life)

Everything you need

Built for creators who speak to camera.

🎤

Voice-controlled scrolling

Uses speech recognition to track your words in real time. The script follows you, not the other way around. Supports 18 languages.

📱

Phone remote control

Control the teleprompter from your phone. Scan a QR code and get play, pause, speed, and navigation controls right in your hand.

🔎

Word-by-word tracking

Every word is tracked individually. A smooth spotlight follows your voice through the script. Always know where you are.

🖥

Pop-out window

Detach the teleprompter into its own window and drag it to your second monitor, external prompter, or any display.

Auto-scroll mode

Don't need voice tracking? Switch to auto-scroll with adjustable speed. Great for recording voiceovers or reading at a fixed pace.

🔄

Mirror mode

Flip the display horizontally for beam-splitter teleprompters. One click toggle.

Built for people who speak

Whether it's a camera, a crowd, or a microphone — in any language.

🎥

YouTubers & video creators

Questions & answers

Wait, it's really free?
Yes. Completely free. No trial, no freemium, no "enter your credit card for the full version." Just open it and use it.
What's the catch?
There is no catch. We built this because we needed it ourselves and figured others might too. No ads, no tracking, no data collection.
Why does it require Google Chrome?
VoicePrompt relies on Chrome's built-in Speech Recognition API for voice tracking — it's the only browser that supports it reliably. You need Chrome on a desktop or laptop. Auto-scroll mode and keyboard controls do work in other browsers, but for the full voice-controlled experience, Chrome is required.
Does it require an internet connection?
Voice tracking requires an internet connection because Chrome sends audio to Google's servers for recognition. The phone remote also needs internet to sync. Auto-scroll mode with keyboard controls works without a connection once the page is loaded.
How does the phone remote work?
Click the "Remote" button in the app, then scan the QR code with your phone. Your phone becomes a wireless remote control with play/pause, forward/back, sentence navigation, and speed controls. No app install needed — it works in your phone's browser.
What's the difference between voice mode and auto-scroll?
Voice mode uses speech recognition to follow along as you speak — it moves when you move. Auto-scroll moves at a fixed speed you control with a slider (or from your phone). Use voice mode for natural delivery, auto-scroll for rehearsing or reading at a steady pace.
How do I use it with a second screen or external prompter?
Click "Pop Out Window" to open the teleprompter in a separate window. Drag that window to your second screen or external display. Enable Mirror mode if your prompter uses a beam-splitter. The display is clean black with no UI chrome.
Can I use it for long recordings (20-30+ minutes)?
Yes. There's no time limit. The voice recognition auto-restarts if Chrome's speech API times out, so it works seamlessly for long sessions.
What if my accent isn't recognized well?
The matching algorithm is fuzzy — it doesn't need perfect recognition. It matches partial words and allows skipped words. You also always have keyboard arrow keys as a backup to nudge the position.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Just open the app and start using it. No account, no login, no email required. Nothing.
Who built this?
VoicePrompt was built by Claude, Anthropic's frontier AI model — capable of writing production-grade code, designing elegant interfaces, and debugging complex systems across multiple languages and frameworks. The creative direction, product decisions, and relentless quality demands came from Rutger Bregman, a historian and bestselling author who has never written a line of code in his life, has no idea what a Firebase is, and kept asking "but can you make it look nicer?" until it did. Together: an AI that can build anything, and a human who can barely find the terminal.
